" Companies' attitudes toward smart manufacturing have shifted dramatically over the past two years, shifting from widespread hesitation to active participation

Wang Yuanyuan, reporter for Outlook Oriental Weekly, reporting from Beijing

Born in the coastal city of Qingdao, manufacturing has an innate desire to "venture overseas." The picture shows the busy transportation at Qingdao Port

"Intelligent manufacturing has now become a key development trend in the global manufacturing industry. Countries around the world are actively formulating support and encouragement policies related to intelligent manufacturing, positioning intelligent manufacturing as a key direction for future industrial transformation and development." Li Dong, Director of the National Major Technical Equipment Office and Director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, expressed his feelings in an interview with Outlook Oriental Weekly.

In recent years, China has been making significant efforts in this field.

A notable announcement is that on December 7, 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Intelligent Manufacturing Development Plan (2016–2020)" at the World Intelligent Manufacturing Cooperation Summit Forum, It proposes that by 2020, key areas of China's traditional manufacturing industry will basically achieve digital manufacturing.

" We believe that through coordinated cooperation between central and local governments and the joint efforts of system integrators, equipment manufacturers, and users, this goal will definitely be achieved on schedule. Li Dong told our reporter.

01 "Machine substitution" does not mean intelligent manufacturing

Outlook Oriental Weekly: Many countries around the world, including China, are now paying close attention to the development of intelligent manufacturing. At present, is there still a significant gap between us and developed countries in Europe and America in intelligent manufacturing?

Li Dong: Compared to industrialized countries, promoting intelligent transformation in manufacturing in China faces a more complex environment, a more severe situation, and a more arduous task. China is one of the very few major industrial countries in the world with a complete range of industries, and its various industries are at a stage where mechanization, electrification, automation, and digitalization coexist.

According to the goals set out in the "Intelligent Manufacturing Development Plan (2016-2020)": by 2020, key sectors of China's traditional manufacturing industry will basically achieve digital manufacturing, and significant progress will be made in intelligent transformation of key industries with conditions and foundations; By 2025, the intelligent manufacturing support system will be basically established, and key industries will initially achieve intelligent transformation.

We believe that with national and local coordinated efforts, joint implementation by system integrators, equipment manufacturers, and users, and joint efforts from all sides, the planned goals will surely be achieved.
